Tabata is an area in the southeastern corner of Tokyo's Kita-Ku, with Tabata Station at the junction of the JR Keihin Tohoku Line and the Yamanote Line at its center. To the west of the station is Tabata, part of the Yamate Plateau, and to the east is an alluvial lowland area called Tabata Shinmachi. The lowlands are paddy fields, and the name "Tabata Shinmachi" comes from the fact that the area is located on the edge of a rice field.
