When I pointed the camera at them, the girls were embarrassed and put their hands over their faces
While wandering around the market I found in Bago, I came to the fresh food section. It was a very busy place with many women. In any market, the busiest area is the fresh produce section, where people are constantly coming to buy food.
Vendors were perched at the end of the aisles, laying out their wares on the ground. Fish, meat, and vegetables were being sold. Like many markets in Southeast Asia, there is no refrigeration here. Everything, whether meat or fish, is sold at room temperature.
Eventually, I came across two girls who were sitting in the aisle like many others. When they noticed the camera, they were intensely embarrassed. One began to cover her face with her hands, and the other put her hand over her mouth and smiled shyly. Upon closer inspection, I noticed what appeared to be a wedding ring on the hand of the girl sitting to my left. She looks quite young, but she seems to be married.
