The kids smiled by the wayside
These kids appeared as though from nowhere when I walked the deserted road. I thought whether they were watching me from the behind. They came to the road just at the right moment. They smiled and laughed at me while they stood together by the wayside.
Their voice was echoing in this narrow street. And the atmosphere of the street changed. Yet they didn't come close. They looked at me without getting too close. Maybe, they were afraid of the foreign stranger, even though they were smiling.
